ESL has announced the details of IEM Katowice 2017 with a $250,000 cash prize purse up for grabs

The IEM Katowice 2017 event will feature twelve teams, eight of which will be invited directly to the event.  There will be four qualifying spots up for grabs for teams seeking to compete with some of the best Counter-Strike teams in the world.

The event will take place from March 1-5, and will have two groups of six teams. The group stages will feature best-of-one, round-robin format.  The winners of their selective groups will qualify for the semi-finals while the second and third place teams in their group will face each other to advance to the semi-finals.

There will be three qualifiers in Europe and one in North America. Two of the open qualifiers will take place with an undisclosed number of teams that will earn a spot in a closed qualifier. This allows for a higher standard of competitive play for the event.  The North American qualifier will utilize the same format.
