RFRSH has sold the Heroic brand with the player contracts.
The Heroic organization will be competing under the Heroic tag for Seranades Global Inc. Erik Askered became the new Executive Director for the brand. Erik Askered is a partner in Cube Esports, a marketing agency in Sweden that currently employs former 1.6 legend Emil “HeatoN” Christensen.
The acquisition now means that RFRSH is in compliance with WESA that limits that number of teams that the organization can own. In a statement regarding the transfer, RFRSH representatives stated that the transfer was to “find the optimal solution for all stakeholders.” RFRSH currently only has ownership rights to one team, Astralis. The move makes RFRSH completely compliant with all regulations imposed by WESA.
“With everything going on in regards to the multiple team ownership discussions, and so forth, we got permission (from WESA and Valve) to negotiate the sales of not specifically Heroic, but specifically a team, so we didn’t have more than one,” Steen Laursen, RFRSH vice president of communications & brand told The Esports Observer. “When that was announced, we got quite some attention on this, so it’s not that unnatural that we received a lot of different contacts.”
Erik Askered, Executive Director:
“We see great opportunity in acquiring Heroic. The team has a tremendous potential, which we look forward to develop towards the goal of becoming the number one CS: GO-team in the world, says Askered.
Given the financial and all other circumstances, RFRSH Entertainment is pleased to finalize this agreement. The transfer of the team is in line with the overall strategy of RFRSH Entertainment and it has been agreed between the parties not to comment further upon the financial details of the agreement.”
Heroic’s current roster consists of Acilion, Friberg, Es3tag, Mertz, and Moddii.
RFRSH is the host of the BLAST Pro Series, an innovative global tournament for Counter-Strike events, with the best teams in the world competing.
Last week, the company announced that it raised €10 Million ($11.4 Million) after raising €7.2 Million ($8.2 Million)
