StarLadder and ImbaTV have announced that the Starseries Invite League will take place in Shanghai, and will have a $500,000 prize pool. The prize pool increased from $300,000 to $500,000.
Starseries Invite League Season 7 will run from March 30-April 7 in Shanghai. The event venue is currently undisclosed.
Sixteen teams will compete at Starseries Invite League Season 7, and thirteen of the slots will be filled with invites. The three spots will be determined by qualifiers in Europe, North Syracuse, and Asia.
Wild is the first invited team after they won Gamecon Brasília 2018. This was, in part, the South American qualifier. Wild beat Isurus in the finals to claim their spot in the Starseries Invite League Season 7. The event marks a new focus in including South American teams in international competitions, and support within the region.
Sergey “Negative” Bidzan, Head of Events at StarLadder:
“The South American region has plenty of players with high potential, but they are almost unable to prove themselves on the international stage and to become a part of some famous organization. Only a few teams have managed to “escape” from the region and, moreover, it became possible only due to great efforts and no smaller portion of luck.
“Starting in 2019, we are planning to open another way to the international stage for these players. We are starting to cooperate with local leagues and tournament organizers who can organize regional qualifications and send the best teams to the LAN-finals of StarSeries.”
The format of the tournament will be the Swiss group stage system, in which teams will compete in the best-of-three format. EIght teams will progress to the single-elimination bracket, which will be a best-of-five final.
ENCE won Starseries Invite League Season 6, and are the reigning champions when they beat Vega Squadron in the finals. Who will be the winner and reigning champions of Starseries Season 7?
