“3 years, 3 NA LCS Championships, thank you Hauntzer.”
With the TSM era coming to an end, Hauntzer is looking towards the new chapter of his career. Although fans sometimes made him the source of criticism, there is no denying the dominance he showed during his time on TSM.
Coming from Gravity in 2015, Kevin “Hauntzer” Yarnell put strong performances on display proving that he could be a future star. However, after being reverse swept by gauntlet winners, Cloud 9, their season quickly came to a close. Following that season in November, he decided to pack his bags and join Team SoloMid along with star players Doublelift and Bjergsen.
Starting slowly, TSM did not come into their own for a while being a middle-of-the-pack team. However, after spending time building cohesion and synergy with one another, they became a dominant force in North America.
During Hauntzer interview with HTC Esports, a Bruce Lee reference was used that could describe the player’s ideologies.
“You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can flow and it can crash. Be water my friend.”-Bruce Lee
Hauntzer perspective in-game is shapeless given his diverse champion pool and his ability to play well in various metas. For example, it may show in the form of a 5-man Gnar ultimate at the 2017 World Championship. He also can play hard carries such as Jayce or Gangplank. Overall, Hauntzer can play all styles effectively.
